lonebearimages 0 Posted May 20, 2008 Now this one I really like. Something about the exquisite detail of the grain heads and the coming gloaming of the night; it all sorta seems to come together quite naturally. This looks really nice Large too! Well done! I'm glad that you posted the two variants to the original masterpiece; this a close second to the first posting in my estimation. All three are powerful compositions; largely because of the details displayed. Think of how many loaves of bread are in this field! Good stuff, Amigo! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted May 20, 2008 I particularly like your vision in seeing these shots. I'm afraid I would have missed the shot trying to find a location without all that &%!@# grass in the way! Without the grass, it's just another sunset; but with the grass a slice of reality, served in fantastic detail... Mike Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted May 20, 2008 Thanks Chris and Mike for your kind words and for not thrashing me on the lack of a strong subject. I like it too! The native resolution file of this is amazing, full of all the delicacies and intricacies of the scene. I actually think the lack of fire in the sky made this one sing louder. I have worked my way into a niche that comes from appreciation of the simpler things. It also helps that this location is within a half mile of my home. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted May 20, 2008 While I appreciate Boris' opinion and rationalization; I think these are incredibly powerful compositions. Not every photograph needs to have a stream, a large oak tree, or even a 'rock' parked up in the FG. To my mind, and eye, this composition; with all of its elements, is every bit as effective as all of the other compositions that I like - that's precisely why I like them, and this image. Well, I'll quit now; I'm becoming a bit too philosophical, methinks ;>) Ciao! Chris Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted May 21, 2008 I have always heard the rule-of-thirds pounded over and over, leading lines, anchors, etc. etc.; and sometimes that does make an image. I do contend though, sometimes the scene itself is the subject, nothing more, nothing less. If the purist want to call that just a picture, or a snapshot, then so be it; but this series of shots are beautiful collections of life (absolutely not snapshots) that will be enjoyed long after that big rock, blurry water, over saturated sunset image is reviewed and filed away. Keep on following your shutter finger where it leads and we'll keep enjoying these great images... whew, I don't usually talk that much either... Mike Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted May 22, 2008 Thanks for any thoughts. Make sure to take in the detail from the "Larger" view! Link to comment
