You have perfect timing in most lovely place here. So clean street, no cars, no commercials disturbing. Fine light and shadows, and then those persons and cats. Their positions and postures are very fine. Her shadow is like a extension to the cat's tail, the handle of brush pointing to the head of the cat so finely positioned near the tip of the shadow, while the other cat is looking at me watching this fine photo. Well seen and done.

Dear Jose Angel, we are both more into colors but in this case because of the saturated blue top of the man made me to take the liberty to explode the possibilities of B&W version. I hope this play won't upset you. Maybe you find my technique interesting, worth using later on your own - who knows...

What I did here was: I split the RGB channels into three separate B&W images. Using the Green channel as base I copied the entire Blue channel and pasted over the Green and turned the layer mode from Normal to Lighten to make his top lighter. On this Blue channel image I selected the brush and it's handle and copied it over as a new layer turning it's mode to Darken. From the Red channel image I selected the top of the lady and copied over as new layer and turned it Lighten too. One could naturally fine tune this basic composition of layers by changing the opacity and whatever. One could discuss how dark the man's top should be. My take was kinda continuity in his appearance, that's why wanted to lighten his top.

Please let me know what you think and how you usually convert color originals into B&W, thanks. I would love to see your B&W version of this great photo, just to see and understand how you as the author see it.

Outstanding photo! This is one of the best photos I have seen in a long time. It's one of those shots you have only a brief moment to capture! The colors are excellent. The lighting is perfect. The black of the cats and the dark colors the lady is wearing... fabulous! The sunshine on the man's head and slacks, contrasted with the dark shadows... excellent! Jose, in my opinion this is one of those photos that come along only when many factors and the timing are perfect. My congratulations to you for being in the right place at the right time!

Hermosisima composicion callejera, Jose ... respira espontaneidad.

Hi friends!

Thanks a lot for your nice acceptance of this shot.

Dear Markku. No problem at all, I am pleased about your test in b&w.

I thought about a version in b&w but I have not got a version I really like. Anyway, here is the b&w version I like the most. I made the work with Capture NX using a tool similar to the Channels Mixer in Photoshop.

I have been trying to get the most about the light, feelings/mood that I remember about the instant when I saw the shot and I enjoy a lot to see a little bit the cats fur.

I hope you like this one also, it is not far from yours except about the man's blue top.

A very nice street image that captures an everyday life scene with great spontaneity and natural....it's so typical from the south where people clean their own piece of street...on the geometry side I particularly enjoy the zig-zag shadow leading the eye around the scene...the two cats in 90degree also contribute to the atmosphere...I prefer the color version because the warm wall colors is so nicely contributing to give the street warm mood of the south....
