Turnberry Lighthouse marks a dangerous part of the Ayrshire coast, off

which lies Bristo Rock which was responsible for many wrecks. The

Lighthouse was designed by Engineers David and Thomas Stevenson.

They examined the rock and reported on 18 May 1869 that it was

inadvisable to erect a lighthouse on the rock itself, but suggested that

the best place would be on Turnberry Point, where it now stands. It is

situated close to the 9th hole of Turnberry Golf Course in what was

once the moat of Turnberry Castle, which disputes with Lochmaben the

honour of being the birthplace of Robert Bruce (1274 -1329). Please

have a look at a larger version. Your comments/critiques much

appreciated !!!

Your standards remain exceptionally high! ...and Aha!...I noticed a different camera model too... not that I would have noticed unless I had not clicked on the 'Details'. Here's wishing you even higher standards!

Thanks for your comments guys.

I'm glad you like it.

Mike - I'm doing my best and it's something like a first photo that came out of my new camera. First impression is really good. Hope it won't let me down in the future :)

Ben & Robert - thx :)

A grand landscape and a grand skyscape to boot! Gorgeous low-angle light. Beautiful composition; with a wonderful lead-in for the eye with the grasses along that ridge. Excellent capture; and good fortune with the new camera, my friend! Cheers! Chris

Very nice picture. The diagonal ridge in the foreground creates a very nice 3D effect. In terms of a perfect world improvement, I may be wrong but the horizon seems to be a bit tilted. Otherwise good work. Please keep posting.

Gorgeous!

Love your use of wide-angle here and the exposure reveals so many beautiful details in light and composition.
