Thank you all for stopping by. I had fun getting this image, out in the middle of a field on a windy day.

From the ground, looking up, and with a fish-eye or wide angle? What a great idea, and very well done.

So thats what it looks like to be a field vole! I really like this, Ive seen it done with trees before but never crops. Perhaps it would look better with a little more blue in the sky? 6/6

This image was taken at eye level and then I used a little photoshop technique to add interest. Thank you for stopping by.

Peter, I agree about the sky color. I couldn't get it exactly right, so I opted not to try "too hard", and let the grains shine. Thanks for your comment.

A "little photoshop technique?"! Only little if you know how... are you willing to reveal how? I'd love to know how to do this.

Liz, firstly thanks for responding to my comment on this photograph with one on mine, much appreciated. Secondly, in terms of the blue sky if the conditions were that difficult you probably chose the right option leaving it white. An artificially blue sky would detract from this photograph a lot more than this white sky does - which is really not at all. Thanks again, Peter.

I was looking at this and reading the comments particularly about the blue sky ... this is one if you had the time might be interesting done in HDR with multiple exposures at different levels of exposure. By doing so you would expose the grain heads as demonstrated here and would have a perfectly exposed opening of whatever sky ... of course wind might be an issue ... you could still convert the image to 8 or 16 bit to perform the photoshop effect ... I like the image and having never seen this before got me thinking .... great shot!

This image is included in my "experiments" file. It is something different for me to try. Thank you for stopping by.

David, this was taken with the landscape mode at eye level. Then I processed it with a little of this and that, but mainly used the polar coordinates filter to "ring" it so it could make this presentation. I must tell you, I am not an expert in editing, I try things and that's about it. I'm after originality and creativity, but only if I don't mess it up. I can't recommend anything, I'm still very new at all this. Thank you for stopping by.

Thanks for responding. I only "do" what I can. I loved the scene for this image, and played with it to make it different.

Kevin, I am a novice in many ways, and I do not understand how to do the HDR thing, though I'd love to be able to do it. I've seen the greatest scenes done with it, and I long to manage the technique. Thank you for your suggestions.

Thanks for the info. Obviously, I'm no expert, and I am only familiar with a fraction of what PS can do. I haven't tried the polar coordinates filter yet... in fact, I don't think I knew it was there at all. Ha! I'll have to give it a try if/when I find a suitable subject.

BTW, I've read the discussion about the sky, and now that you've told me about the filter you used, I'm wondering if there weren't a lot of clouds that day. I ask, because it looks to me as if there actually is some blue sky, both in the center and at about 11 o'clock, with clouds wrapped around, presumably by the filter. Of course, I may very well be entirely off base, but that's how it looks to me. Either way, I think this is a great shot, and an interesting and creative presentation, and I think the sky looks fine.
