This photo makes my heart hurt. I'm not sure whether I should like it (as a photo, as a statement)or hate it. Your graphic title just adds to my confusion. How did your subject feel about you taking her picture that way?

I like these types of images because they move people to think and feel. That's what photography should do. You should shoot a project on this topic.

I like how you get both the rubble sidewalk with the sleeping person with the solid, stable buildings in the background. It makes you make a comparison.

This photo is so emotionally disturbing and also makes me want to cry, but that's what makes it so good! I love your photos that depict this rough life in Brazil that us "tourists" don't usually see. These deserve to be in National Geographic!

The rich get richer, the poor suffer and slip into drunken sleep and despair - all over the world. Its so sad that the mentally ill are cast into the streets, like so much rubbish. Your wonderful picture (and portfolio) say it well. In America it has been shown that 60% of the homeless are psychotic and the other 40% have serious emotional problems or low IQs that have sent them into drugs and alcholism. The human race is not all that human yet.

Who said the subject is mentally ill ?

Such is poverty.

I really like this image - it has the potential to move people to action. Which is what photography empowers us to do - cause a strong emotional response.

Fantastic portfolio.

Hello, first id like to say that you have a great eye for subject and composition as is show in your diverse portfolio. But this image just does not do it for me. The main reason is the amount of attention you have attracted by squatting next to this person, it seems like every passer by's eyes are on you. Next this image seems very condescending and amateur, almost as is some guy with a camera walks and makes a quick snap, there is nothing deep. But also maybe that was you intention ( only a documentation)
