A vibrant sunrise over Lupines and Balsamroot flowers in Oregon's Tom

McCall wilderness preserve, in the Columbia River Gorge. Thank you

for your comments.

Lovely colorful shot as usual Marc. Busy yet beautifully composed again! Looks like you have carefully avoided the highway to be seen!

Yes, that is the most difficult thing about composing landscape images in the Columbia Gorge. The Gorge is also the main transportation route through the Cascade Mountain range so they run train tracks, barges, a highway and Interstate 84 through there. I used the oaks to my advantage here so I could shoot the scene with only the natural elements visible.

I like the sky, the foreground lighting and detail, and the curve suggeted by the foreground flowers and continued by the river, but I think that this one lacks the impact of most of your other (outstanding) work. Just my opinion.

Ok, but see if you can figure out why. Understanding your own preferences towards one image or another can be a good learning experience.

Mark, I dont think there is anything more to say about this photo. Its simply awesome... The colours are just coming out very nice, the skies are handled superbly.

Avoiding the temptation to add more brightness to all or parts of this image is instructive to me. ... You were definitely on a roll while I was out of the loop for a couple of months.

Excellent composition with the magic light.  I read your description about the other picture which took you 2 week to complish your years' dream.  Enjoy watching your pictures.  Best Regards,
