Pose and Lighting is technically perfect. Looks like a character study, yet somehow something is lacking. Perhaps a closer crop to show more face and less black shirt and background would make her seem more intimate and not so distant feeling.

Thanks Jerrry. I guess I was a little bit too fast on the trigger finger. Chexk out the attachement maybe you will like this one better.

I kind of like the original crop; she seems a little more distant, which somehow matches her expression, imo. I like the overall darkness of the shot.

A powerful image. Her expression is one of wonderment, which seem to capture a real moment in her life. I like the strong light for her face.

I find this image very clear with fabulous skin tones and great composition. Her expression is real and the texture is perfect including the black background that makes it very elegant. Warm regards. Jorge

The sitters head and shoulders needs a little back light from a snoot or honeycomb to stop it from merging into the background.

I agree with Ben, a little more light (smooth) in the background would give her a bit more depht. And I like it better then Anna2, the more light should be in the background, not in the model wich is perfect! But what can I say? It's an outstanding portrait! Gratz! It's worth to match the great portrait artists of the XVIIth century, along with Franz Hals, Rembrandt or Velazquez!

I like it as it is. A kind of Rembrandt look to it, and I am such a sucker for 'painterly' photographs. Comes from being the only critic in a family of painters, I suppose.
