Pine needles in Northern Lights

thadley

Changed camera position like crazy and pointing it slightly towards the direction of the sun until I saw an effect that I liked. Some minimal changes with curves equivalent to "dodging and burning" otherwise not manipulated.

A neat trick. It takes my eye a second or two to readjust and peer through the fog and then I see the needles poking through.

Thanks for commenting. There was very limited post processing of a single image which involved some adjustment with curves (equiv to dodging and burning) - the effect you see is mainly due to changing camera position like crazy and pointing it slightly towards the direction of the sun until I saw an effect that I liked. Tamron Macro 90 mm used at very close distance. Glad you liked it enough to stop by. I will put it up to the critique forum because I am really interested in getting folk's reactions but I suspect this is not everyone's cup of tea. I was searching for something different from just a regular image of pine needles.

Thanks for your input - slight use of Curves otherwise no other

manipulation of this single image. Effect is strictly from close

position of a Tamron 90 mm macro and pointing the camera towards the

sun until I saw something I liked. 11:12

Well Tony, you certainly achieved something different then a regular view of pine needles. The mind wanders, hair follicles, micro views, grass shoots, it is excellent. I find myself so buried in the "real" that it is hard to break out. This piece encourages me a great deal.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting. As you can see from the low rates that I was right that it is not everyone's 'cup of tea' but it is still interesting to get the 'feedback'. I started looking at the photos of Tony Hadley and I ask myself recently "where is the growth"? I feel that I have to continue to push myself to improve the things I now do and move in 'new' directions even though not everyone may like the result.
