Thanks Hugh- The photo title was intended to comment on the changing seasons, holding onto fall as winter's presence is unmisteakable. I think clear cutting can be very destructive to to the aesthetics as well to more fragile ecosystems. I probably would have chosen a more moody image to illustrate the last stand you are referrring to. Thanks for your take on the shot. This was taken in the national forest surrounding Telluride.

This is definitely a "take a closer look" type of image, and its remarkable I think. The detail in the Larger view is revealing and more observers should take the time to look. It looks like millions of gold doubloons scattered across the meadow. The clumps of snow add to the story and the intensity of the quaking aspens is outstanding. You have a real artists eye for the landscape Harry. Too bad not enough viewers can ascertain the quality this image possesses.

Mark-Your'e too kind! The detail is very cool in very large versions, but this isn't the place for it I guess. The diffused overcast allowed the details in the far understory to be visible, which is what I was hoping for. I typically end up with a low contrast image based on the in camera settings. I'm not sure this is the way to do things, but I don't want things to contrasty from the get go. I guess I could modify the RAW file, but as you have seen, post processing can be a bit of a challenge for me. It seems easier to add contrast than remov it from the original capture. Thanks again for your input.
