odama 0 Posted September 14, 2008 Poor dog, suffering from Leishmania disease, despite I don't like it, I think it should be killed to avoid others contamination... Link to comment
keezi 0 Posted September 17, 2008 this is easy to cure, maybe killing the dog is a bit hasty Link to comment
odama 0 Posted September 17, 2008 But I don't agree with you. If a dog gets Leishmania still there is no cure for it. Only a treatment that is very painful for the dog, and doesn't eliminate Leishmania, it actuates to keep the animal alive, more like a paliative. And there is the possibility that a mosquito sucks the infected dog's blood and transmit Leishmania to humans. The disease is not mortal for humans, if treated, but it's dangerous, because the right diagnostic can be made too late. Believe me, I already lost some dogs with Leishmania and a friend's son was close to die because of a late diagnostic. He was three weeks in a hospital, after getting the diagnostic. First, medical people suspected of a Leukemia, but on the end it was Leismania (thanks it wasn't Leukemia). Kind regards, Jose Link to comment
