Paris Waterfront: The Louvre, musée d'Orsay, quai Conti,Notre-Dame. But also: harbors, freeways, new neighborhoods beingbuilt: this is no museum city but a striving metropolis where peoplego about their business just like in Seattle or Osaka or Sydney orwherever.

This picture show part of the Paris Rive Gauche project, comprisinguniversity buildings (like the gray one on the right hand side, hosting one of the best physics department in the country), officesbuildings, housing units... It is viewed across a cement distributioncenter located on the right bank, not far from the boulevardpériphérique. Just as picturesque as the most famousbuildings of the city center, in my book.

On this subject, check Beyond the Iconic, ContemporaryPhotographs of Paris, 1971-2003, by Guy Bennett andBéatrice Mousli, Santa Monica (CA), Angel City Press, 2007. I'mnot in it, obviously, but some photographers that are included give agood idea of the kind of work I'm hoping to achieve.
