I like the color version - the arch seems to stand out better for me. The coolest part of the image, aside from the obvious great reflection and sky, is the small section of the arch and reflection where it passes through the spring trees. Because the leaves are not yet mature, the arch can be seen through the trees. Looked like an illusion to me. Excellent composition and exposure.

Thanks Harry for taking time to help me know which version is more successful. I am probably with you, I generally like color better than B&W, but recently I have grown to appreciate the simpler image a B&W renders, more about shape, texture and tone. Both of the Arch images are favoring the color versions, I think because of the apparent spring colors which are lost in the B&W versions. BTW, you recently asked about my websites captioning. I am slowly getting it all together and soon will have captioning for the individual images on my site. Hopefully I can include the locations as well. If you have a question about where a photo was taken, just let me know which gallery and what number photo and I will be happy tp let you know from where!

While I do like the color version very much; I believe that this is simply timeless. An extremely unique and original perspective and view of the Arch. Sterling composition, just outstanding. The black and white conversion is flawless as well. This is easily the best photograph I have ever seen of the Arch. Really terrific work, Mark; very nicely done! A gorgeous landscape! Cheers! Chris

What an amazing image, your work here exceeds most posted in this forum. Your work with B&W is really outstanding, I'll have to visit your page more often.

I'm hard pressed to say which of these arch images I like best, but I think the B&W are probably the most stunning. This is incredible work, Mark! Have you considered submitting these to the St. Louis tourism board? I'm sure they would be interested in this for their tourism material/ postcards, etc. Bravo!
