steve b 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Nice mood. Regarding the 3/3 you got, I just checked about 20 of the latest pictures posted, and all but 2 have just gotten a 3/3, including two of mine. I'm guessing it's the same person. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Hi Mike...this looks like a night/full moon shot? I can't quite seem to figure out why this does not work for me....I like the exposure and the tones are great...the composition does not do it for me...I tried cropping several ways...For me..this shot is about the tree...it's cool and you honored it...maybe more of the house would be good or just the tree...? Sorry I can only be honest...you have many others that are better... and I continue to enjoy looking at em! juan Link to comment
zambaras 0 Posted April 28, 2008 I see what Juan is saying. It is as if there is a processing inconsistency in the tonal range of the building (artificially? very low contrast) and the rest of the image. Yet, overall it works fine for me - a strong composition, a dramatic dominant tree and an imposing sky creating a mysterious atmosphere. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,925 Posted April 28, 2008 I know, I sent this one by my wife before I posted it & she gave it a thumbs down too, but I posted it anyhow. This was shot on velvia & I tried a technique of changing it to B& White I read about on Luminous Landscape. Thanks for the honest critiques! Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Luminous Landscape..?? those guys are wacked.....JEEZ KIDDING! I have learned so much from them...don't give up...for me the issue here is more about the composition...The house has it's issues but the tree and the snow are way cool and the exposure is good too!! Keep having fun...Juan Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted April 28, 2008 I think for me the square format may leave a bit too much sky, when the real action is below. I scrolled down to 'crop' it a couple of feet above the lightening rod on the barn. Then the rod seems to be pulling that marvelous tree toward the barn. I think it's a powerful shot, and certainly a keeper. I'd be proud to have taken it. Link to comment
doug_gentry 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Mike, WOW! Exceptional tonal range and a great feeling of strength and style represented in this photo! It's remarkable! Well done! Doug Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 29, 2008 Hahaha...I forgot to tell you...My wife and I always bet foot rubs when we disagree on an image...I have learned that if I could go either way...go with the feminine intuition!...Juan Link to comment
