gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 26, 2008 A slow shutter panning experiment. Not a photo shop creation. Thanks for any comments, suggestions. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted April 27, 2008 I like it very much - well done. 6/6 I am still wondering the direction of the pan especially as you have vertical, horizontal and curved lines. You don't have to share. I should do my own experiments. Link to comment
danbliss 0 Posted April 27, 2008 It is a wonderful abstract. I like the colors and the curves are wonderful. It is really interesting. As always, nicely done. Dan Link to comment

godfather 0 Posted April 27, 2008 Falling fromt the sky, well panned. What strikes in this one is the ultra simple subject and lines but still you managed to get it look interesting than most of the shots here. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 27, 2008 Tony; I am always happy to share. This was shot at night at 1.6 sec. f. 11. I used a 17-85 mm zoom lens. The long exposure allowed me to both zoom the lens during exposure and rotate the camera at the same time. The shot was given some basic curve and level adjustments as well as toning. The original source was palm trees with wrap around LED light tubes wound around their trunks. Dan; Thanks I always enjoy playing with light to come up with these abstracts. Niels; Sometimes some simple blue lines are all you need :) Tero; I think simple is the key here. This one did not really need much. Joachuim; I try to come up with original stuff. I thank you for noticing and leaving a comment. Link to comment

dseltzer 0 Posted April 28, 2008 It's no surprise, and always a delight to see your innovative creations. I'd never have guessed the subject. What truly amazes me here is your physical control of the camera... not only are you zooming and rotating, but doing both with such a smooth, steady hand. I very much like the design this produced, and your title is great! BTW, don't know where else to put a comment about your new self-portrait... very interesting, nicely de-focused just enough to produce a good blur while maintaining enough detail to be interesting and identifiable. Another good one! Link to comment
sherle 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Ah... LED Christmas lights... very nicely done. I just love it when an experiment comes out beautiful. This looks very much like string art, though much more complicated than anything that could do. You inspire me everyday to get out there and experiment more. .....Sherle Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Another fascinating and creative idea -- and a fine image! Warm regards... Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Another great one; as you said it yourself, simplicity is key on this image. However, IMO there's nothing simple in the idea of panning and zooming at the same time, on a lime of palm trees with lights on them, the result however is stark, simple, and very beautiful. mcclure 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Amazing, it has the look of a scratch-board etching and the sense of movement is wonderful. Link to comment
