This is beautiful, Christal! Love the blends of orange, black yellow, blues and whites. The tree shows so nicely with the contrast against the sky. Excellent.

Like the composition against clear sky with the colors of sunset glow. Well captured. Regards ifti

You found a grandaddy Joshua tree here; and captured him perfectly! I like that there's still detail on the trunk. That sky is to die for too! Superb work! Say 'hi' to Norm; and did you guys get your camera(s) yet? I am back from Yosemite; and Ray and I had a sublime trip. I took over 500 shots, of which 11 were keepers. Cheers! Chris

Hi, thanks, and welcome home. Glad to hear you had a good trip. And yes, just tonight we went out and bought a Canon 40D, a huge step up from what I have now, and enough camera for me at my current skill level. And I can use the lenses I already have, although none of them have image stabilization, so that will be my next purchase. Norm and I went to a cool place yesterday on a photo outing, and we were frustrated that we both wanted the 'good' camera. He's getting a bit more 'hooked', but not like me. I can't see him ever doing this PN stuff, for instance. That's ok....that way we don't have to fight over the computer too. :)

Good on You! Congrats on the new 'baby' in the family! Now remember; use the histogram, use the histogram, use the histogram! Also, as you both are getting into this go out and get yourself a good set of ND graduated filters. I use the HiTech 4x6 system and have a one-, two-, and three-stop soft-edged; and the same in hard-edged. I covet a Singh Ray reverse ND grad, but it is astronomically expensive. If you're not around water a lot; I'd start with the soft-edged set as each filter is about $100. You'll have to buy the lens adapter ring and holder too. But they are worth their weight in gold (and more). Finally, the last thing that is essential is a quality tripod.

Thanks for your wonderful comments tonight; it meant a lot. I left you a reply on my B&W of El Cap in the morning. Cheers! Chris

Ok, Professor! J/K Seriously, thanks for the advice. On my last outing with the camera I started playing with the histogram, and we'll eventually get some filters. I also bought a new lens, which I'm pretty pumped about. Oh, and I appreciate the nice rating on this photo. I happen to be really fond of this one too. Thanks, Chris!

I am back after an absent from Photo Net and am enjoying your beautiful work. The background colors show off the tree so well. Very nice.

I know i am late but I do love the form which is perfectly emphasized in silhouette form. The sky is to die for and it looks natural.

All the best as i take off for slumber land.
