This is the last of the butterfly images. Although it is probably not the best of the butterfly shots from a technical standpoint, it is absolutely my favorite, by far. It just really all seems to come together. I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts.

By the way - am on my way out of town for a couple of weeks, and will probably not have much time to be online. Hopefully I'll have lots of new things to show you when I get back. :-) Thank you all for your friendship and support!

Have never done insect/butterfly photography before. Any input,

comments, ratings, etc. are greatly appreciated! :-)

this is my favorite too Lou Ann! first i am impressed with how much the buttefly looks like a leaf and the amazing hand of God in nature. then i love the patterns and movement of lines in the flower, and how the lovely S curve leads into the butterfly. i'll bet the mathmetician in you loves that too. then i love the marvelous squiggly lines on the butterfly istself. they are almost musical...and the color palatte of the whole image is so warm and sunny. i wonder about the two brown spots on the flower. have you considered cloning them out?

Thanks, Linda! I just saw your e-mail ... I'll answer that in a little bit. :-) You know, I don't even think it occurred to me to clone out the brown spots, but now that you say it, it sounds like a fabulous idea! I'll have to try it. I appreciate your comment ... but you give me way too much credit! I missed the "S" that you mentioned. Again - now that you say it, it stands out to me. Actually, I look at this and all I can think is that the lighting and color and flower and butterfly all come together in a way that pleases my eye. :-)

Great shot, Lou Ann. From the thumbnail I thought it was a leaf and was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and found it to be another butterfly. I agree with you that this is the best of what you have posted. Nice work.

What a wonderful set of photos, Lou Ann. The butterflies are so beautiful, and the way they are presented is really natural (recalling the pinned butterflies in the glass boxes...)

Pity I could not join you!!...

Wow, what perfect camouflage for the butterfly; it looks just like a leaf! Excellent capture on your part! Mike

Nice job - I have never actually tried photographing butterflies so I can't speak from personal experience but I think you have captured the creature very well. Most often you see butterfly pictures taken in the bright sunlight but I think the shade works well here as this particular specimen has mostly muted tones. Also like the high key background.

You've taken 2 seemingly incongruous colors and brought them together nicely. I think what makes this work is that the center of the flower is in the same color family as the butterfly. Or heck, I don't know....it's just beautiful! Nice job. Happy travels, wherever you'll be going! :)
