this picture shows how strong the UVs are at high altitude, given a superblue tint to the sky, which is great to show the white snow. I supposed it was in the north of Peru andes? . congratulations for obtaining a nice picture and surviving the altitude sickness. Miguel

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes, this is northern Peru, in the Cordillera Blanca near Huaraz. And the sky was that blue! As for UV light, I woke up in a freezing tent that morning (literally- the poles had stuck fast to the canvas with ice) and an hour later I was getting nicely sunburnt! Altitude sickness, though not severe, wasn't much fun- finally after 3 days walking I felt weel enough to take the camera out!
