That they eat the flesh of kings,

and the flesh of captains,

and the flesh of mighty men,

and the flesh of horses,

and of them that sit on them,

and the flesh of all men,

both free and bond,

both small and great.

Nice scenery. Composition and light is good.

Dude, you disgust me! How are we supposed to take photographs after seeing this? :-D

Honestly, one of your best...just fantastic.

A common theme for sure but this one's unusually good. Fantastic light and attention-grabbing power.

Good grief, what isn't a common theme? Nudes? Kids? Sunsets? Shorelines? Birds? Trees? Buildings? Streams? Flowers? About the only things I don't see very often are those that are seen through either microscopes or telescopes. Everything else has been "done."

Striking photography, by the way.

Truly outstanding David! As good as any I've seen! Nice article in the mag by the way!

All the best

I do not understand what those comments are supposed to mean. To the extent that this photograph is a "landscape" or a "sunset", one could thus say it is "common theme", but to say such a thing seems dismissive. David, where is this place? Marc Adamus posted a similar image with different light, every bit as dramatic and stunning as this. You do not deserve the FOUR 3/3's you got so far. Question: did you deliberately darken the rocks all around the periphery? The light is strongly elevated in the center of the image (not even across the image), but I find that this effect draws my eye always back to the setting sun very effectively. Excellent work for such a "common theme" :)

If you look at the rock directions they are all slanting at 45degress. The ones on the left reflect the rock whereas the ones on the right do not. I havent done any intentional darkening of the edges, perhaps its an effect of shooting so wide. I think this is 17mm or something.

Its precisely 4724 miles from Oregan, on an island just north of France, to the right of Ireland, England in other words!

Thanks to everyone for the support regarding the 3/3 and subject matter.

Hey David, fantastic work on this one. The detail in the rocks, the dramatic light and framing, and overall mood of this image really set it apart.

You know the rating system is in the dumps when this image gets three 3/3, that is total BS. I get so sick of people abusing the system in a vein attempt to bring other peoples ratings down, so their sub par work does a little better. I give this a well deserved 7/7

Landscapes can be so played out if your not into it I guess, I am sure thats all the 3/3s are about. Personally if I dislike something I just say nothing unless am asked. The difference is when I posted this shot as with others I have done, they arrive within 5minutes of the shot going live... "listen up yall this is sabotage" said the Beastie Boys

All the other genuine ratings make me still want to share and post my work here as its the most diverse site I have ever come across and I really love the range of cracking photographers that I can tip my hat towards. I just thank those like you Zack.

Yes, but ratings should be about the photograph, not about the viewer's preferences for subject matter. If a person rated this photograph as a "3" because he/she was tired of landscape photographs (or rocks along a marine coast, etc.), that "3" says absolutely nothing about the photograph, and it says everything about the viewer. This is the basis of my fruitless rant against numeric ratings, and why I offer (and ask for) comments only.

Marc Adamus did indeed have a photograph strikingly similar to this, but it was at the tip of the NW coast of Washington State (Shi-Shi Beach, Point of the Arches).

Great image, possibly a bit obvious but then I would have also taken it, as would any other photographer. Processing is very well done also. I think the title detracts heavily, makes me think of Hollywood.

Rtings, ratings, ratings ... a common subject on ANY photographic website ... well to be frank they hold no real interest for me. At the end of the day we are in it for the love and the recognition from THOSE who we RESPECT surely?

I take photos to please myself ...

This is a good piece of work .. not a 7/7 for me though its edging into it. The comp is superb and obviously some respect for finding a location where you can get those lovely lead in lines.

The exposuree is spot on but I thin id prefer a touch more sky and maybe a less regimented array of lead in rocks. Thats me being clinical but this type of landscape just needs a touch of quirkiness in my opinion ... thats the only reason its not a 7/7 for me.

I really like the 'spooky' effect of the water between the rocks gaps.

Personally I'm not really very fond of the sky it's a little bit too pale and hard if I may say so. I would love to see a little bit more warmth in it. I think that fitts better in the complete atmosphere of your photo. Nevertheless it's a great one and doesn't deserve 3/3's.
