matman1975 0 Posted April 15, 2008 Hello Ed. Your picture is sharp, well exposed, but faces a few problems in composition. The left part of your frame includes a bird with a cut head and another one which has only a part of it's right wing. On the right part of the frame there is a sitting duck (cut in half) which doesn't "participate" to the "take off" action. I believe that if you didn't focus that much on the centered bird and decided to include in your frame all three "take off" birds (by placing the centered bird to the right in order to make space for the other two) then this image would really be a great action bird shot.I hope I helped a bit, greetings from Greece, Teo Link to comment
ed dertinger 0 Posted April 15, 2008 Thanks for taking time to comment - I very much appreciate your input. Marco - I will take a look at your photo soon and provide comment. Theodore - I agree with your comment on composition - really not the best. It all happened very fast and I just got off a "grab shot" here. I tried a cropping of the image - how does this look?? Again, thanks for your valued input Link to comment

lex_photo 0 Posted April 22, 2008 This is such a neat idea, but I have to agree with the crop. I like the crop version you put up, but I'd personally like to see more of the wake created by the bird taking off. I hope this helps - Lex Link to comment
ed dertinger 0 Posted April 22, 2008 I agree - unfortunately couldn't include the little bit of extra wake in the original photo and still crop out the duck. I guess I need to learn photoshop so that I can clone out unwanted elements. Thanks for the comment - I appreciate you taking the time. Link to comment
