Great job with the black and white - what a shame the house was abandoned (well, then again, it makes for a more interesting photo, so it is worth it!) You have some really nice images in your portfolio, and I especially like the "things" category- thanks for sharing it-

Doug,

Very interesting. Tin roof looks in good shape. I like the tree in the foreground it's a beauty.

Thanks for sharing

thanks for sharing this old house. Everytime I see these old homes and take their photographs, I always wonder about the people that lived there and what happened to the families. Sam and I very seldom see a desolate two-story house in our area. It is almost as if this area of the country was a poor area of the country. They were all farmers back during the day. Nice shot!

This reminded me of many of the places you and Sam have photographed. But, yeah, this place was not the simple functional home shown in many of yours. This had curved plaster corners, very wide baseboards, and an elegant staircase. Even the rich . . .

Another example of a wonderful old treasure rotting away. In most of the world, people would not even dream of inhabiting such a fine dwelling. Here, we let them rot.

Dave, you are absolutely right. I wonder where along in its history, the decision was made to let this place go to seed. I know that it takes money to keep up a home this old and this large, but we have people moving into this area all the time who build huge, expensive homes. You'd think that a place like this would have appealed to some of them. This one is now probably too far gone.
