dberryhill 3 Posted April 13, 2008 My guess is that the Ansel Adams zone system folks would go nuts over this. And for good reason. It has marvelous tonal range. Black and white at its best. Link to comment
margaret1 0 Posted April 14, 2008 Okay, I give up, Mike. How did you cheat? I hate to tell you, but Ansel Adams cheated, too. I really love this. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,775 Posted April 14, 2008 Thanks Margaraet, I took this picture which was originally color, & desaturated it,then cranked up the contrast. Actually, I think if Mr. Adams had the technology back in his day he'd have been a master at photoshop. Link to comment
margaret1 0 Posted April 14, 2008 I agree, Mike, but I don't agree that you cheated, Had you added the trees and placed little fairies dancing around, or creatures from outer space. You alterred the tones, but it is original and I still like it no matter! Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 14, 2008 Mike I don't know if you ever printed in the wet dark room....but that's what Mr. Adams would have done...except the part about the color film...and he would have used contrast filters...It is so much easier to do it Photoshop...One of my teachers used to print for Ansel...he told me that Ansel would have gone crazy over Photoshop...I thought my teacher was nuts...and disrespectful for even thinking that...but now I wonder... This is a fine image. Fine composition. and yes the tones are just right...I'll think I'll have to nick-name you....Double A Nice job! Juan Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted April 16, 2008 This is an impressive one. And so well done. And of course : there is nothing about cheating : there is nothing you have done here which could not be done in a "traditional" dark room. Link to comment
lev_lubarsky 0 Posted December 26, 2011 great composition! What are these, mushrooms or fallen fruit?Lev Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,775 Posted December 28, 2011 This is fallen fruit. The Osage Orange aka Hedge Apple. They're about the size of a 12" softball & not good for much. Some animals chew on them. Link to comment
