dirtlawyer 0 Posted April 12, 2008 In Toledo we saw what was once a synagogue that had been converted to a church, and then was on exhibit. The people in charge were very proud of it. I wanted to vomit. Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted April 13, 2008 I often wonder where the fertile mind of a child fills with the cancer of hate. A seed deep within that should never germinate but alas, the curse is upon us all. The disease that blinds from goodness, a sickness that hides its victims from love and nourishes this wretched seed of hate. The cure for this cancer will bring blessed peace. But today the cancer consumes the minds of many. Do not faint for peace will come.. ...but not today. Shalom, ~Sky Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted April 13, 2008 Dear Pnina, Don't you just feel sorry for the hate that a few harbor in the deep shadows of evil souls.......They all will know the truth some day.......This is a very effective photo. You see the effect it has on me and most who view it.....Jim Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted April 13, 2008 This is really a disturbing image, Pnina. Will Mankind ever learn from the enormous mistakes ( horrors) perpetrated in the past? Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 13, 2008 Joe, Richard Jorg, it is disturbing! Gerald,I was there, I know your feelings, as it was done by religious people....what is done in the name of religious establishement is why so many people are seculars. Sky , as always you well express the feelings it evoks, I was stunned. Jim,Yes, but many are just turning their heads in indifference . Donna, AND ALL OF YOU, look at the photo of the week which is called "HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL", I wrote there as well what I feel and think. Vladimir, you are right. Amal, shalom is a hope ,but hard to achieve. Paula, it is not only in the past! it is nowadays, every single one.... Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 13, 2008 This type of tribal 'us against them' mentality seems to be hardwired into the reptilian portion of the human mind. Whenever the more advanced thinking parts of the mind are not nurtured or are not functioning properly, this ugly underbelly rises to the forefront. Pnina, this is a sad but necessary image, as we do need to be aware that hatred is very much alive and with us. We cannot rise above unless we first acknowledge. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted April 13, 2008 An ugly truth. As hard as it is, I hope that compassion supersedes the angry, empty hearts that pick up these spray-cans and announce such venom. There's no pride in such a scene. I like these real photos because rather than showing something beautiful, they require the viewer to search themselves and find something beautiful on the inside to counteract hatred. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted April 13, 2008 I admire you for posting this. It is strong, upsetting and real. We can never have enough reminders because then we forget. Seeing this only reiterates that not enough is being done and we have our work caught up. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 13, 2008 Thanks for your thoughts, which are so important. If you look, there is a date it was done 2006! no one there thought it is agly and deleted it, it says something in general and of the naighbors there. Depressing. Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted April 13, 2008 Pnina, I saw that photo a while ago; the action that photo captures is equivalent to dancing on someone's grave. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 14, 2008 Donna,POW can be seen your way, and mine too.I think it has to be seen as a symbolic photo of life overcome the holocaust ( and what I wrote there about unsecurity and danger). Thanks you Ton, I appreciate your joining Adan. Link to comment
j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted April 14, 2008 These sheep were clueless about which direction to take in their lives and where to find food that would truly satisfy. They were vulnerable, confused, and famished, like sheep without a shepherd. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 14, 2008 Spencer and Amal, thanks! There are many that need a shepherd... Link to comment
blackdogstudio 0 Posted April 15, 2008 Unfortunate and disturbing to know that such mentalities still abound. Link to comment
