knobby6 0 Posted April 12, 2008 These guys are so fast and unpredictable, much harder to photograph than hummers. Bg sucks, but it is what it is. Keep the 3/3's comming. Link to comment
dnl1 0 Posted April 12, 2008 You say these guys are fast and tough to click, but looking at this photo, seems as though he has posed for you with arms wide open. I find it to be a pretty unusual shot, but enjoyed it lots. Link to comment
knobby6 0 Posted April 12, 2008 Its just an illusion, he wasn't posing, he was on the move..... Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted April 13, 2008 Funny you should think seagulls are "too common" when shooting pidgeons! LOL! By the way, I used to think pidgeons were too common, but after seeing your work, I just might give them a crack. There is one you have flying straight at the camera that I think is one of the best bird pictures I've ever seen, bar none. Goes to show you it's not the bird but the photographer. After all, Miguel Lasa's ospreys are shot by filling a tank with sitting duck salmons, then waiting for a gang of ospreys to come and feast on the helpless fish. Photographers are invited, pay money to get in prime positions, and with a Canon Eos Mark 1 DII, a heavy tripod, a Canon L series 500 mm lens with a 2.8 aperture and IS, it takes less skill to get those diving ospreys catching fish than tracking a white seagull against a bright sky with a 105 mm 3.5-5.6 Sigma handheld without image stabilizer. The works of David Hemmings, shooting bald eagles in Alaska in a driving snowstorm, now, that I can appreciate. Link to comment
