karolostrivizas 2 Posted April 6, 2008 Fairy tale atmosphere Dennis enhanced by the low light. Beautiful colors. Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Please view larger. Shot taken at the Prieuré ©n Tours which has been preserved as a rose garden. In May, when the flowers are blossoming amid the ruins, it is overwhelming. This shot was taken during a break in the rainy day. Link to comment
magdalenacampomenosi 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Enchanted, magic work. A beginning of a fantastic history... Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 6, 2008 This is so very beautiful in its dim light, soft flower colors illuminating the dark, BG wall, and some blue sky. I love it. Link to comment
robertinio 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Dennis this is a realy beautiful picture. Your exeptional talent for composition and extraordinary sense for light is reflected here. I hope you will give us some more pictures this way from time to time. Link to comment
RickDB 10 Posted April 6, 2008 ...masterful processing of a great shot. Its just stopped raining here and the birds are singing - a perfect accompaniment for this rose garden, a moment of peace and beauty that is so welcome in this crazy world! BTW, is that a caterpillar smoking a hookah over there? Thanks for sharing, Cheers! RickDB Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted April 6, 2008 Original treatment and very effective result. The colours really pop out of the image, and the subdued BG enhances the dreamy effect.Very well done. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Magical and awesome. How did you manage to give the flowers such a luminous aura? They seem to have a life of their own. It's a visual introduction to an enchanting fairy tale story. You are a master of exposure. Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted April 7, 2008 You've continuously excelled at capturing these creations built by man FOR God, now your putting those skills to use showing off the things God has created for us. The color is beautiful and it has such a dreamlike look to it.....I always look forward to seeing what you post next, nice job! Link to comment
pascalagneray 0 Posted April 8, 2008 Hey Dennis, forgive my trespassing here on sacred grounds but I do dig the castle atmospherics, I just wish it was a movie so we could go up and see the whole set up in real time. Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted April 9, 2008 ... haven't been able to post lately and there are all of these comments! "Fairy tale", "dreamscape", "enchanted". Words not usually associated with my shots, but this one, as you see is different. I did a lot of processing to get this result, and that is also unlike my normal effort, but I was trying to get the feeling of Saint Cosme on that rainy ... enchanting ... day in May. Karolos, thank you. The idea of bringing out the colors in the low light was key to this treatment. Joseph, glad you liked it, a pleasure to see you here. Magdalena, if anybody would know the beginning of a fantastic history at first sight, it would be you. Thank you. For those of you who don't know her work, take a look, you are in for a real treat. Pnina, glad you like it. Welcome back from Madrid. Loved the shot of Alberto you posted on that (whispering) other site. Robert, I hope to give some more pictures like this. Have to admit that I don't seem to be able to create them on demand, though. Usually when I process a shot this much it turns out a muddled mess. I won't expose you all to the disaster created when I tried to apply a texture to a shot :) Mike, you and Pascal picked up on the theatricality of the shot. Thanks. Rick ... are you sure it isn't you smoking that hookah? Or sipping absinthe you smuggled back from France :) Or is that just me, jealous? Thanks for your kind words. Photis, thank you for the serious critique on a shot, that I am sure you understand well that I was not sure about posting. I've stopped being such a coward because I realize that this is the best way to learn, to lead with my chin. Adan, like Magdalena, you see it as the beginning of a fairy story ... or a movie. I would like to think that Jean Cocteau would have approved it for one of his films. Tim, for the trouble-making kid at the back of the classroom, this is a pretty seriously intelligent comment. I seriously thank you in return. I am touched. Pascal, mon ami. Dig away on the atmospherics. How I wish I could use another language like you use English. Pierre, I think the one thing that I am proud of is the idea that that, though this shot is post-processed, it is possible that it might be captured this way if all conditions were perfect. With a little judicious lab work. Thank you for your comment. Link to comment
manuel barrera houston, 0 Posted April 10, 2008 That you captured and conveyed that magic moment you felt that day, Dennis. Wonderful dreamy, fantasy effects Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted April 10, 2008 It's amazing how you've taken the flowers and electrified them such that they glow in the middle of a dark day. Now that is magic, my friend. Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted April 11, 2008 I agree with the "fairy tale atmosphere" comment. looks like a hidden garden. Beautiful image. I like to see more of these exterior scenes. Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted April 11, 2008 ... Once again I thank you all for your kind words on this little fantasy image. I'm glad that you liked it, and was extremely nervous posting it in the first place. Link to comment
dseltzer 0 Posted April 12, 2008 You felt the magic when you were there, captured it with your mind and your camera, and used it to make the magic happen on all of our screens. Quite a feat, sir! And I do understand your doubts about posting something so seemingly different from your "mainstream" work. While it's certainly not your usual image, it is most certainly your usual facility for finding, seeing and showing the beauty and wonder of magnificent form, color and creation. What a gift it is to be able to show us what you see through your eyes and your heart. Thank you. Link to comment
