Another daytime view of the skyline. Do the rocks provide enough interest in the foreground? Is the B&W conversion effective? Other thoughts?

Beautiful image. The darkness of the rocks in contrast with the the brighter skyline make all the diference.

Excellent composition in a square format. The rocks are a good foreground. Perhaps I would like more whites on them.

Oh Boy...I agree with every body on what a stunner this is...except for the the rocks...Jeeez I am sorrry Lou Ann...I guess if there is always one in the bunch...I am that juan....

Maybe it's my monitor but I think the rocks are too dark...It gives me the feeling that this image was not finished in the dark room...If these rocks were in the same light as the skyline...(maybe a cloud past over while you made this?)They should have a little more contrast to them...I feel the tones are a little bit 'muddy' as we used to say in the wet dark room...I fooled around with this earlier today and meant to post it sooner but my server went to lunch for a while...so here is my version...?

I like the composition very much...my brother was born in Toronto...but I only remember the nice folks and cold winters...not this awesome skyline....Thanks for letting me give .02 worth...Juan

Thanks for everyone's comments! It really helps. I agree about the rocks in the foreground. I played with the sliders in the B&W layer and couldn't quite get them where I wanted without blowing out the buildings. Juan - I love your version (and am honored by your visit!) Thank you again to all!

The framing of the shot is great and the rocks really help to establish the image, but the foreground is too dark. If you were in a cloud shadow while the city was not then perhaps you should shoot this shot again under different lighting conditions. I do love that the wind is blowing and whipping up the water on the lake.

Lou Ann, Compared to your other colour twilight version (with my suggested crop of course :-)), this one comes in a distant second place. The colour version is much more dramatic. This skyline is an intimidating one which almosts demands that one photograph it no matter the lighting & thus it sets us up for the fall. Usually a fine compositional technique, including the rocks here is similar to burning a candle at both ends: our attention is now divided between the TWO major elements, an undesireable situation in my humble opinion. On the plus side, they do provide context and perspective by showing how far the mainland is from the island. Best, LM.
