aginbyte 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Hope you like this lovely rose from the Saint Cosme priory in Tours. Please view large, because the compression from PN brutalizes the reds. Link to comment
glaucodattini 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Very beautiful light and delicate colors. Compliments! Glauco (7/7 anonymous) Link to comment
milena_safrova 0 Posted April 4, 2008 The rose is very nice and gentle, but what is excellent are your churches in your portfolio I have just visited. Great! Link to comment
ccommins 0 Posted April 4, 2008 This image is a 7/7, color, lighting, focus and softness. Excellent, I am sure Roger will love this one. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted April 4, 2008 The Rose is such an emotional flower and this one is indeed well captured - beautiful! Mike "But friendship is the breathing rose, with sweets in every fold." 1814, Oliver Wendell Holmes Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted April 4, 2008 This is a very special capture and what sets it apart is the softness of the light and the gentle opening of the rose. In my mind I imagine the bud opening up completely. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted April 4, 2008 My dear Dennis, Carol is oh so right, I do indeed love this soft whisp of a rose. Your colors are just simply gorgeous, and I may add really appreciated, as have been working and thinking in b&w for past several days, and a burst of color is just what my soul needed. Many thanks.......roger Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted April 5, 2008 Glauco, thank you for your kind words and rating. Because these few flowers that I am posting are so different from my normal work, I'm always a little nervous about putting them up. What is the unexpected reward is hearing from people who don't usually post on my images. Thank you. Milena, welcome to PhotoNet and thank you for your words on my pride and joy, the Romanesque churches. I saw your interesting shot on the Prague Cathedral. It is always such a pleasure to get an opportunity to shoot one of these buildings from a vantage point like that. Well done. Jose, thank you. I must check your portfolio. As I said to Glauco, it is great seeing new names on the critiques. Carol, you must know Roger and well, since his response confirmed your kind evaluation. I have a joke with Roger that there are architects and there are architects ... and the one celebrated here is the most sophisticated of them all. Michael, and it is always a pleasure to see old friends ... Like you and Adan ... I love the quotes, following the last post which had the Sassoon, followed by Yeats! Adan, the program for the play PJ is in has a quote from Schiller, "Truth exists for the wise, beauty for the feeling heart." That came to mind the instant I read your comment here tonight, my friend. Yours is the feeling heart. ... and Roger. First of all, I was appalled that my Request for Critique mentioned "as his summers recedes ...", hope you understood I meant nothing metaphysical, but just that on your side of the world you were approaching the autumn :) Whew! Second, I'm glad the little burst of color gave you a lift. My best to you. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted April 5, 2008 Wonderful light and color. A striking and beautiful image. Regards... Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted April 5, 2008 Wonderfully lit, the center seems to glow, the soft tones are handled beautifully and the subtle leaves in the background really make this photo..........I don't have any nice quotes or poems to end my critique so I'll wing it......roses are red, er well, this one is pink.......with a little bit of white......roses are ...pink and white.......oh forget it! aginbyte 0 Posted April 5, 2008 ... I'm really glad you like the shot. I like it so much, not for the photography, but for how utterly beautiful a creation this flower really is. And Tim ... why do I always get the sense that if we had been in school together, it would have been me, you, and Pascal in the last row of seats, continuously getting into trouble? Link to comment
robertinio 0 Posted April 5, 2008 The beauty of tenderness. So, you do have also another side. Very good work Dennis. Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted April 5, 2008 ... I appreciate your kind words always. And Robert, yes, I am really only 99.27% monomaniac :) Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted April 5, 2008 Ah, that .73% worked out well here. On second thought, this has the same feel as many of your cathedral shots. Still, light coming from darkness, great form, and so forth. Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted April 6, 2008 ... glad you liked the shot. Jeff, you do the math and you critique :) I like this rose a lot, and you know I was drawn to the structure. Diane, I went to your page, but you don't have anything posted! It's fun to see the work of those who post here, so I'll keep an eye out. Linda, I thought I remembered a shot of yours, which I only remembered as House of Blues. Went to your site and you have a BW version of it. Is my memory completely wrong or did you replace the color shot? I hope I'm not losing my mind completely :) Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted April 6, 2008 I echo what everyone else has said; this is a real beauty. Well done! Link to comment
