lonebearimages 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Man-o-man; this is just a terrific photograph! What a wonderful image of western Americana. Somehow, the fallen cottonwood mates up just perfectly with the dilapidated nature of the barn and corral. Good eye to see this one, Big Guy! I like it a lot! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted April 4, 2008 Ditto... and like a fine postcard (I mean that in the most flattering sense)! Great eye, I admit that I would have never included the fallen tree... sigh, now I see why you get the great reviews :-)... Mike Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Thanks guys. This is probably within a mile of the Kern River Preserve east entrance. The other side of the barn has completely collapsed, but it wouldn't fit into any good comp. To the right and up the road is another old barn of a grand scale, but lack of time and little remaining energy did not permit. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Images like this are my inspiration to take better landscapes. This image is amazing ... perfect sky, great subject and foreground. Wonderful! Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted April 5, 2008 Thanks Lou Ann! I actually think the sky is the make or break of this one. A cloudless sky (woe is me) would have provided a big blue empty space. This sky presents interest beyond the scope of the immediate image concept. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted April 25, 2008 Wow, you knock my socks off! Wonderful composition as always and what a beautiful sky and you have tweaked every last tone out of it. Just a stunner! Link to comment

Wayne Sadler 567 Posted March 15, 2010 Great composition and theme. I can't imagine the skill and work it takes to create such a sky and still retain the detail in the filigree of the limbs and leaves of the trees. Superb craftsmanship, Mark. Link to comment
