katzpjs 50 Posted April 5, 2008 A very, very cute image! You have a wonderful eye for photography when children are the subjects. Don't miss anything while they are young! I played with a b&w conversion on my computer and I think I like it better that way, but the horse's braided tail may not be showing up as well in b&w. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 5, 2008 I can see why Shawn might think this would be fun for B&W...for just for about 5 seconds. All I can say is RGB....The color wheel...when ever you get them all in the frame with a subject as good as this...WOW! I think this is your best portrait of this cutie pie! Great DOF...sharp...colors rock...Two pony tails!!! The pink and blue of the house...green grass...just one of your best. I will go on if you want....Love this...juan Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Thanks to both of you...Juan, would love for you to go on if you have more good things to say!! I loved it, all the pink and the matching pony tails and little determination in her walk to have a sit on the porch I was glad to run across it in my vast(and I do mean vast) collection of life that I have captured. Thanks again, sometimes I am the only one that sees "what I think catches ones eye" when really it is just shots that grab at my heart. ~j Link to comment
jim craig 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Great capture. Janis. Love the composition, the two shades of pink and the sheen in her hair. Especially like all the questions the image leaves unanswered; where's she going, is she upset about something, happy or crying maybe, etc. Nicely done. Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 6, 2008 Thank you Jim. Sorry you got in the way of my 3/3 rant. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted April 6, 2008 I gave you TWO ratings of 3/3, but I had to lump them together because I was only allowed to rate one time. 8~)# Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Shawn you're crazy..thanks! Jennifer ... she is a very easy to photograph child...that sounds wrong, she has my attention, let's just say that. J Thanks for stopping by. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted April 7, 2008 A 10/10 on the precious scale! What a prissy/tough character! All the colors and trappings of the beautiful little girl, but look at the poise in that walk; I suspect she and Maggie are quite the pair! :-) Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Hi Janis, I'm glad I paused long enough to load this one. I don't get to see as many pictures as I'd like on dial-up so everytime I am near high-speed connections I tend to go on a photo-binge. A splendid shot here. You saw and pressed the shutter at the perfect time. It all came together and I agree with all of the things that others have mentioned but the vignette gives this a really dream quality. It allows the older viewer and perhaps some younger ones to imagine their own scene from childhood. The one thing I don't sense with this shot is sadness. It says contentment to me all the way. The setting is perfect Hollywood quality; dirt path, clapboard style siding, grand natural lighting at the perfect angle and the exactly called for shadow being cast at her feet and the realism of a common childhood mosquito bite on her calf go a long way in making this a very well-seen portrait of childhood. The best part, this is genuine childhood and in this day and time it's great to see that some kids still get to experience it. It's a State Fair prize-winner in my view and sums up what makes a simply perfect Texas Summer. Put this one in your portfolio. ~Sky Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Thank you so much Sky! She was one happy little camper, best I can remember. What better than being at your grandmothers with your new little pink horse from the $ store! Thanks for seeing what I saw. ~j Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Sorry for over looking you Michael. Thank you for the compliment and yes she "is" a character! And yes, she and Maggie are very good friends. Thanks Michael! ~j Link to comment

pnfphotography 0 Posted April 9, 2008 I love how she and her horse are wearing the same colors.... Your girls are adorable and I love that they are into the equine. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted April 10, 2008 You mentioned "catching the eye" and "catching the heart"...catching the heart wins out every time...just sayin'. Love this shot for so many reasons...first, the light catching her hair...like spun gold, second the vignetting, third the color and last but not least the walk itself. This is priceless. :) Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted April 22, 2008 Cute. I think we have a theme going, you and I, of forlorn little girls. I like how bonded she is with her pony. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 23, 2008 It is a very nice and cute image, the colors are great( pity to give them up for B/W...)This is a great color palette, aside from the good timing, light and pose. A touching image. Link to comment
