Although it probably sounds foolhardy to those of you who know what I've been up to lately, I got a new camera!! :-) (I can totally rationalize and justify the purchase, too!) Anyway - I took my new 40D and 28-135mm out for a walk about last week on the National Mall in DC. I wanted to explore some of the settings and performance.

At the same time I've been wanting to do a good series of somewhat abstract architecture shots of the new(ish) Museum of the American Indian. It's a gorgeous building, but difficult to shoot on a sunny day (which happens with great frequency in DC). But last week it was overcast, so I shot a LOT of images...

Of course I am always happy with critiques on individual images, but for this series, I am uploading a whole bunch of shots and would love for some comparative critiques as well. Comments on color balance, color vs. black & white, composition, perspective, etc. comparing the images will be most valuable to me.

Thank you so much for your support of the other images in this series. I am enjoying the feedback that you are giving me. :-)

One of a series of images from this lovely building. Please take a

look at the other images in this same folder. Any comments or ratings

are always appreciated! :-)

Lou Ann, in terms of architectural abstracts, your last to posts are better than the previous ones, and those where very good actually. I think you're feeling more at ease with the building and what you want to accomplish now.

As far as composition goes, I think this one is perfect, other than that my personal taste insists on making the texture more evident with slightly more contrast and some tone adjustments. Perhaps, something like......

Thanks, gentlemen. Juan Carlos - I appreciate your version. I'm still not sure I like them so dark as what I posted ... but there had been several who commented on the earlier ones asking for less highlights/more contrast. I'm still tweaking ... each one is different. I'll find a balance eventually.....

i like this one best so far..the curved lines, each on their own path. i do like Juan's contrast adjustment.
