timzeipekis 5 Posted April 1, 2008 Pep, Cheri, Ton, Janusz........thank you all for the wonderful comments, I originally tried it in color, but true love for B&W prevailed and I was compelled to convert this, I am quite happy with the results and am glad you all feel the same. Link to comment
dacamera 0 Posted April 1, 2008 I like the way you have placed the emphasis on texture and mood giving this a very different feel to most flower images. Simon Link to comment

lostinspace 0 Posted April 25, 2008 The technicalities of this shot need no mention as it is plain for all to see the perfection. What does need commenting on is the artistic merits, namely the angle. This has instilled a real drama to the image. It's like looking at some opera from the wings of the stage. The focus on the near player, but just catching the edges of the main player, I can almost hear them singing! Absolutely captured my heart, well done. Kind regards, Hugh. Link to comment

jill_rocker 1 Posted June 7, 2009 Was looking in your portfolio and found one more of your amazing shots.. This is so beautiful and black and white color tones and contrast are perfect for this shot.. The whole composition works very well and I think this should be hanging on someones wall.. A piece of art I think.... Another 7/7 of course.. All my best, Jill Link to comment

kaya_eli_in 0 Posted April 13, 2010 As other people I agree B&W version stands above the colored one: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7066796 This one is more contrasty and it is the main benefit of B&W version in my opinion since the colors of the first version is too pastel to have a strong contrast and still look good. B&W conversation is nicely done too. The small closed flower is slightly suffering from over-sharpening haloes at the bottom edges of it however, despite overall sharpness is very good. Perhaps a %50 history brush can be used at this edge after the sharpening. Best regards Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted April 13, 2010 I see what you mean about the halos, unfortunately this image was lost to a hard drive failure about a year ago. If I had the master I would revisit it, but such is not the case. Thanks for your generous feedback! Link to comment
kaya_eli_in 0 Posted April 17, 2010 Driver failure, eh? I never delete photos from my memory card before making backups at two external hard disk. This is most common approach to safety in these matters and I advise it.There is another technique to retouch sharpening however. Since other parts of the image is taking the sharpening very well. Some photographers would use this: Take a very small and totally soft clone stamp brush. Turn the blending mode of it to "darken". Opacity may be %50 or %100. Aligned must be unchecked. Brush out the sharpening halo. When taking sample follow the curve of the flower. I have done a %50 version of it and this is a somewhat hard image to get it done. But it gets done. I hope this helps.
