I'd never seen fungi grow so big and so fast on such a relatively

recent windfall. Nor had I ever seen the variations in colour. The

title was a no brainer as that's what they looked like at first

glance. About 13 to 14 inches, top to bottom. Hope you enjoy them.

Hi Doug - ok where did you find fungi this time of year...must have been from summer's past...this is so cool..I have never seen fungi so large or colourful...great job! Looking forward to spring and summer...Its been a long long winter...

Hi Christine. I just checked the exif file and it was Sept. 2006, and with a 3 megapixel Canon. I've seen many large pie sized ones, usually growing on top of large smooth stumps, but never anything like these shapes and colours.They must have been getting considerable nourishment from that tree.
