marcadamus 1 Posted March 28, 2008 This interpretation of a stream stretching across one of Oregon'sdesert playas relys on darkness and minimalism of the selectivebrighter tones to lead the eye through it. The exposure was maderoughly half an hour before sunrise, at 30 seconds. Thanks forcommenting. Link to comment
lalit 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Has this been taken in Alvord desert lately? Composition is simple but nice with the abstract patterns in the foreground and the stream just as the Title says. This could be a web version issue, but right part of the sky looks slightly more saturated blue than the rest. The bright spot with sky reflection in the stream, is little brighter for me, but does not bother much. Overall nice photo. Link to comment

jsphoto 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Marc, This is fantastic! The texture, the movment in the clouds, the colors just starting too show up in the horizon, and the exposure is spot on.I think that it really portrays a dramatic side of the desert, and gives me a sense of vast open space.Nice Job! daverave 1 Posted March 28, 2008 This is certainly one of your compositions that would benefit from being posted "Larger." I understand why you don't but at this size the subtleties and detail gets lost. Link to comment
peter_t.1 0 Posted March 29, 2008 I really enjoy the simplicity of the graphic elements and the overall tone of the colors of the scene. To me, it truly captures the feel of the pre-dawn hour out on the playa. Beautifully well done. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted March 29, 2008 I like everything about this image; the dark mood of a cold lonely image. Very well done and presented beautifully! Link to comment
hopsage 0 Posted March 30, 2008 I love the dark tones in this, especially on the playa's frost. Was this taken this week? I just got back from that area today, where I was camped up in the Sheepshead Mountains, to the north of the Alvord. Weather was absolutely awful, and I ended up bivouaced against whiteout conditions and 15 degree weather. Needless to say, not so much for the photographs. Anyway, a good combination of luck and skill here. The use of the reflected dark blue in the sky is really inspired. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted March 30, 2008 "I ended up bivouaced against whiteout conditions and 15 degree weather" Darn. I knew I should have gone this week instead. I love those conditions. We were camped on the top of Steens Mountain at 9450 feet last week and it was sunny and warm. Did some exploring of the Sheepsheads also, looking at a few smaller dried playas. This is over by the Big Alvord Ranch area of the desert. Accessibility comes and goes. Link to comment

alextremps 0 Posted April 14, 2008 El reflejo en el agua marca el camino al fondo del paisaje y nos marca la profundidad en la toma. Una envidia sana recorren mis ojos en cada toma de Marc. Link to comment
