Very beautiful shot. I like the comp with the sweeping foreground and sweeping sky - and the tree as an anchor between the two. Some awesome colors - a feast for my eyes. Looks like this would have been an incredible thing to witness. The foreground flowers may be a bit close for my tastes, but that's entirely a personal preference....beautiful shot again!

Thanks Laurent, Mike, Greg and Chris for taking a look. I must say I was quite energized by this scene. I worked it pretty hard and right at the end, I put my camara away, took a few moments to enjoy the fading light and went back to the car (a couple of hundred yards away and over two barbed wire fences). Then I jammed on some Manheim Steamroller and drove back to Bakersfield. What a complete evening for me!!

Like it too very much because simple composition and bold colors. And here is good light balance with foreground together sky. All your work is amazing!!!!

Raymond Banfield has this listed in his "favorites" folder. I'm not sure how I missed it earlier. The color here is really beautiful, especially the cast on the the grass and flowers. Pitch-perfect, to steal another artistic metaphor. Makes me actually want to see Bakersfield :-)

I remember when I put this in my favorite folio. And it would be cinch to do it again. California clouds ( you do get them ) and your sterling composition plus of course, those pastel colors makes for an all around great photograph...Lefty
