Thanks to both of you. Neither of you being Americans, I don't know how common it is in your respective countries for people to post messages on their vehicles. Here, it is increasingly popular. Bumper stickers have been around forever, but more recently, custom paintings and personal messages are the rage. I think it is a most interesting sociological manifestation that I shall be photographically commenting upon from time to time.

David, bumper stickers are out of fashion a long time while these kind of messages I haven't seen yet over here. But since we adopt more and more of American culture (mostly not the best)it will probably blow over in one or two years. But you're right there is the potential of a great series here which you indeed should pursue.

Hi David:

Did you notice the baggie hanging out from the bottom of the tail gate? I wonder what could be in that?

Man I hustle all day, eatin' cat fish and stapper

Battle everyday ...(?)

Tryin' ta have paper from the bottom to the tip

Two words I can't resist, motherf****r or bitch

I lost a few nickels but I never drop dimes

Huh, Pisces is the rap sign (ANDRE NICKATINA)

Best--jim

Ah Ha!!!!!!!!

I found it...thank you! I also noticed the baggie sticking out from the tailgate. For someone who went to Kent State from 1969-73 the message was quite apparent...you could get high just breathing the air in my dorm! Another great find! Congrats!

Well, we exported Coke, Pepsi and McDonalds to all you poor folks, so maybe our idiocy will follow. For your sake, I hope not.

I gotta admit I did not notice the baggie. I guess there are some guys out there with a lot sharper eye. What a great quote. What the hell is that from? I guess I just don't get around much.

I wasn't going to post this one, but I had to when I saw your image at the intersection. You didn't get through med school dropping dimes or even smelling the wacko weed I'll bet. Well, maybe like Bill, you didn't inhale.

In early college I inhaled...but, soon realized that the path to success would be difficult if clouded by a haze...which at the time was purple. I can remember having a sore mouth from eating 2 pounds of chocolate chip cookies at one sitting:-)...fun memories, but happy that I didn't go the route of some of my classmates.

Dave, Well seen, amigo. Of course, "Dropping a dime" has more than one meaning on the street. Warm regards...

Just getting caught up on your latest. I'm glad you have a folder labeled "10 latest" so I don't have to hunt all over your portfolio. Good idea. This picture appeals to me quite a bit but it's strength in my eyes is its semi-abstract quality. The large blocky shape of the truck with its driver and passenger and one tail light really stand out against the washed out glare of the background . The words on the back of the truck are interesting but I feel they might arrest the attention of too many viewers and cause them to miss the true strength of this picture which, too me, lies in its superb composition and arrangement of tones.

Joe: I guess I missed your comment somehow. As always I'm grateful.

Jack: It sure is nice to see the master of urban Japanese photography back. Hey, when you are sitting in the driver's seat at a stoplight you don't have a whole lot of time to compose and make adjustments. There wasn't much mastery on my part. Just dumb luck to whatever extent there is anything worthwhile here.
