Emmanuel, It really looks like a "flying bird", when the colors are not present... very nice execution in B/W. Your flower series has grace!

At the church of St. John the Baptist, in El Cerrito, California,

there did we all repair, on the twenty-third day of March, in the

year of The Lord, two thousand and eight, on the occasion of the

baptism of Gabriel Okereke Ikechukwu Enyinwa. It was a modest

affair, with scarcely eight of the closest member of our extended

family, though it was a happy affair, on a bright and very sunny

afternoon. As we posed for the commemorative photographs outside the

church, my eye, ever wandering, lighted upon a clump of flowers

glistening in the noonday heat, birds of paradise, calla lillies and

tulips. It really was all too inviting, and I, who do not number

among my great strengths the fortitude to resist a great

photographic temptation, fell very hard into the yawning abyss.

First, congrats to you, your wife, and to Gabriel. Since a baptism has spiritual connotations, I think having your eye wander and lure you into an abyss of creativity worked out well. I am reminded of Christ's baptism when the Holy Spirit descended upon him in the form of a dove. And I think it's appropriate on this occasion to see angels' wings fluttering around you. I love the translucence of the wings. Your flights of fancy produce fine images.

Thanks for the nice comments. It was a beautiful day, and Gabriel was so excited, he wore himself out and slept through our lunch aftewards.

A joyous day indeed, my brother. Salutations to you and your family. An exquisite and delicate image here, with excellent play between light and shadow.

Best regards,

Yes, nature indeed arranges often art for us to capture. A.Adams said, if I remember correct, something like "sometimes... ...all I have to do is take a photo". But without wandering eye and photographic tool, those subjects fade away, sometimes in few seconds, sometimes slower, but we can't see them anymore. This bird was lucky: You saw it, captured it, and it still lives in PN, hopefully in print, too. Well done. a s l a

Very good presentation in B/W,Emmanuel. The absense of colours let one focus on the the form of the flower, its profile outlined beautifully by the light.
