clayton_m 4 Posted March 19, 2008 The tree makes fine subject and the sky gives it an eerie, haunting effect. Well seen and captured. Cheers, -Clayton Link to comment
brossart 0 Posted March 19, 2008 Wow Josh. I love the lighting on the tree. The lack of light on the rocks really make it stand out. The movement of the clouds adds a great punch. Nicely done! Link to comment

stephen-whitehead 0 Posted April 11, 2008 Hi Josh, I really like this. I wonder if you'd share how you managed to acheived this shot? I imagine we are looking at a long exposure (at least 30 sec or more) but how did you light the tree? did you use an off camera flash or a torch to paint in the light on the tree. Best regards Stephen Link to comment
joshschutz 0 Posted April 11, 2008 absolutely i can share how i made this shot. it was near a full moon. so the sky was real bright. it was about a 2 minute shot. i wanted to catch some streaking of the clouds. i had a simple maglight flash light. i shined the light on the tree constantly moving the light for about 10 seconds. it took a few tries to balance the exposure. i used the flashlight instead of a flash mainly because of the color. the orange light contrasting against the real blue sky. it was also a softer light which wouldn't give the harsh shadow edge the strobe would create. Thanks for the comments Link to comment
