My first time shooting night time long exposure photos. Looked fine

on my D80's LCD, but when I got home the photos were so dark that I

had to set +2ev in Nikon NX.

 

I guess I should have refered to the histogram while shooting. But

aside from that, are there any other ways to know how meter a dark

scene like this?
