dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 16, 2008 I'm taking a stab at learning to colorize photos to look like old 50s and 60s photos. For comparison's sake, href="http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6954556">HERE is the original--which do you prefer? I don't really know what I'm doing yet, so if you have any pointers on technique, I'd appreciate them. Please visit href="http://www.dmogalleries.com">www.dmogalleries.com. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted March 16, 2008 I think you did this one real good. It reminds me of the pictures that my friend's Polaroid used to produce. Link to comment
bernie moore 6 Posted March 16, 2008 Doug, The two colors I associate with old pics that have faded over the years are b&w (gray) and sepia. This looks greenish on my monitor. The compoition is well done and brings back distant memories. Regards, Bernie Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 16, 2008 Thanks, guys. I appreciate your thoughts. I'm still trying to get this technique down, and I'll probably try with a few more photos, but I think I'm improving. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted March 16, 2008 I think you're getting there Doug. Wouldn't change too much if I were you. Actually it's quit funny. Manufacturers spend tons of money to give us more quality and you're going out of your way to get a faded look. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 16, 2008 Thanks, Ton. It is funny that people seem to appreciate technological advancements, but also have a soft spot for the way things used to be, despite the modern improvements. Link to comment
