celasun 0 Posted March 12, 2008 I have never seen my neighbour thorough these windows/curtains/stores/iron fences. Neither has he seen me. Are we exaggerating the merits of privacy a bit too much? How many more barriers do we need for more safety? Is this photo depressing or simply boring for you? Thanks for paying attention. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 12, 2008 I like all the overlapping straight lines. I'd be curious to see a high-contrast black and white version since there's not really any color here. Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted March 13, 2008 I did try a B&W version. However, I could not make it as I wanted (and as you have mentioned). I also thought that the small blue parts might impart some coldness to fit the mood of this shot. Perhaps I should try a B&W (or split tone) version later again after I feel more comfortable with the technique. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted June 13, 2008 This image says a lot to me...even if you had not said what you did...I have seen this kind of city neighborhoods. As a youngster I remember seeing a news story about whole families not being able to escape their burning house because of these kind of bars...I always found them to be ironic... I understand the need to feel secure...but as I get on in my life...I realize that getting to know my neighbors gives me more security... As for your image here...did you make a version with the bars in the foreground in focus and the windows across the way out of focus? just wondering...The little bit of blue solidifies this image for me...as does the texture of the wall...I guess I would feel more secure outside of either of these two rooms! Thank you so much for your comments...your heart comes across with each word...Juan Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted June 17, 2008 Let me make it bold for all the future visitors: I realize that getting to know my neighbors gives me more security... I couldn't agree more...As for your image here...did you make a version with the bars in the foreground in focus and the windows across the way out of focus? just wondering... I tried and failed. I was inside, without a tripod and without much space to adjust proper DOF.I would feel more secure outside of either of these two rooms! I understand this very well and, if you don't mind, I envy you!Reading your message made me feel like I shook hands with you. This Internet is a strange thing, I say... Link to comment
