adan1 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Disctinctive and clever rendition using colors. The background truly enhances the signs and they just "jump out" because of their intensity. The arrows looks authoritative in directing our focus and balances the tilting effect. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Thanks for your thoughts, Adan. I really like the contrast between the bold colors of the signs and the muted grays of the pole. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted March 12, 2008 love the strong graphics here. i think this would be equally strong in black and white. i have one tiny suggestion - you might clone out that piece of debris peeking from behind the yellow card. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Good call, Linda. Thanks for the idea. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted March 12, 2008 Doug, as you know I'm mostly a b&w guy. This one though I love it. You did great on that partial colouring. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Thanks, Ton. The beauty of this image is that I didn't have to do a thing--that was the actual color of the pole. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Debris is cloned out. You were right, definitely better. Link to comment

katzpjs 50 Posted March 14, 2008 Did you even consider the possibility of rotating this 90 degrees left or right so as to make a political statement, or perhaps 180 degrees to provide inspiration to the downtrodden? I suspect your are showing it as you found it with minimal or no rotation? I'm not a fan of selected desaturation, but it does work well for this image and is pleasing to the eye. I didn't get a chance to see the image before it was cleaned up, but if Linda says that it it better then it is for me too. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 14, 2008 Thanks, Shawn. No selective desaturation here--actually, the lumber of the telephone pole is bleached out from years of exposure to the elements. This is in full color. As for statements, I represent management in labor and employment relations for a living, so keeping the man down is my philosophy, and this suits me just right! bosshogg 4 Posted March 14, 2008 Another of your well seen scenes. Maybe you have always done this, but I'm detecting a move toward seeing and capturing smaller and smaller details in your world. I like the way that is working for you. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 14, 2008 Thanks, David. On crappy weather days like we've had here lately, it's easier to take pictures of smaller things. I'm happy with the results, and I hope to make such photos a larger part of my portfolio. Link to comment

dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted March 15, 2008 Thanks, Lauren. I didn't convert the wood to b/w...I'm just lucky it looked that way naturally. Link to comment
