this is really amazing stuff. Everything fits as it should, You've made one hell off a photo here. Definitely one for the permanent collection. Like those Dutch colours btw. Very very good

Bold and to the point. Terrific, Loic.

I've seen photos of the underground trains in London that were cream and blue colored. What is the red coming from?

Cheers ~

Ton, Joaquim, Cherlyn, many thanks for your comments, they mean a lot to me. B. rgds, Loic [PS: Ton, Blue-White-Red are not ONLY dutch colors, but colors of a lot of countries ! ;-) ]

OK, now I'm really confused. I went hunting for what I thought were cream/blue colored trains with Google Images and Wikimedia and saw many photos with the lettering on the platform - in front of the train - not upside down. Are these upside down as we look at a train? Do you know why??

This has nothing at all to do with the brilliance of this photo, of course.

Cheers ~

Well Alberta... 1. To start with the inversion stuff : why should only people entering the train mind the gap? I guess that the poeple going out of the train should also have the right the read the sign without breaking their neck ;-). So in short, you have the sign written on the floor in an alternate way. This photo has the sign 'upside down' from where I am on the platform. If you look at the other 2 photos in my folder, they are written the straight and normal way from where I stand. 2. Now the color... clearly there are some blue and white, sometimes becoming cream when dirty ;-)... The red is usually the color of the doors. When the doors are closed and the train running (like above, the red is pretty 'massive', but.... when the door is open, some of the wagon/vehicle have the door retracting inside. But as I said there are several underground lines in London, and some might indeed have their own colors ? If you find the answer, I am also interested to know !.... See {http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/apictureofbritain/gallery/shortlist/single/england_midlands_human_10.shtml] and [http://studenttravel.about.com/od/traintravelintheuk/ss/london_tube_7.htm] and [http://www.flickr.com/photos/siempre_alerta/2332296535]. I hope you are not confused anymore, otherwise just let me know ! Cheers, Loic

Thanks for all the detail.

Regarding upside down/right side up - I think you should submit this to Wikimedia. There aren't any photos that I could find that show the writing in this orientation and I find the whole thing fascinating.

I've decided that as soon as I can afford it, a trip to London to check this out in person is the only thing to do. Of course, with the present economic downturn and horrible U.S. dollar value, that might be a while ;)

Cheers ~

Hi Alberta, this was taken in Westminster station, District Line, and this is clearly how things are. I will also have a careful look at it in the future in other stations to check out if this is a specifity to this station or if this is the same thing everywhere ! Cheers, Loic
