Yes those are Elk in the background and what a fun thing to do! This was taken at Hardware Ranch up Blacksmith Fork Canyon just outside of Logan Utah. The elk come here in the winter and they have a horse drawn sleigh that goes to the elk and you can get close enough to feed the wild elk by hand. An amazing, amazing experience.
