When did you take this.... We're in between storms right now ... about 6 inches or so yesterday/last night and another foot on its way.

In spite of all of my complaining about your cold photos, I really do believe that snow creates beautiful landscapes ... it's so clean, smooth, uninterrupted. This is well composed and very aesthetically pleasing.

We are already started spring here, and you are still covered with snow....;-))

The thin fence creates a delicate appearance in the FG. I like the angle, and the open space till the BG dark crowded line of trees.

my only nit is the dark blocked trees on the close L. I think you may get more details and a bit brighter, working on it selectively. Never the less a nice addition to your winter series.

Lou Ann, Thanks for your interest. My 'details' tell me that I took this one on Jan 26,'08. And you're right, this has been 'the Mother of all winters' as far as snow is concerned. As I write this we're in the middle of what is expected to be another 10" before this storm is over. I went out with our local Photo Club on a field trip this morning (before it started snowing) thinking we were capturing the last snow of the season. No fear, winter isn't done with us yet. Stay tuned, more to come. Gotta go gas up the snowblower. Best, LM.

Pnina, Always a pleasure to hear from you but you are killing me with talk about spring. This winter just won't quit at my location. See above, my reply to Lou Ann. Good suggestion to lighten up the left side trees, I tried it in PS & it works well. If I decide to print this one I'll do that for sure. Still shooting film so the results from the roll of Velvia 50 I took this morning won't be along for a week or two. These shots might be worth revisiting next summer when the heat waves hit us. :-) Best, LM.

Len,

Beautiful image. I love the composition and the contrast.

Though I must admit, I does remind me why I left Iowa!

TM, Thanks for dropping in with your thoughts on this one. I take full responsibility for the composition and only helped nature out just a little on controlling the contrast. This past longish winter I was sorely tempted to head for warmer territory but with spring now just around the corner, and the good part coming, I guess I'll stay put for another year. :-) Best, LM.
