I was inspired by Linda McLellan (I am often inspired by Linda McLellan!) to get out and shoot at a local playground. There were fewer children around this playground than there were at Linda's ... but the weather conditions were a bit different, too. :-)

My focus wasn't so philosophical as Linda's. I was looking to shoot shadows and the contours in the snow ... but ended up finding great shadows on the snow, and not many contours.

I can not honestly tell you why I like this shot. But I am strangely drawn to it. Maybe you can tell me what I like about it. :-)

Call me crazy; but I like the black and white a lot. I know, I know; everyone in the world is gonna say, 'Oh, I like the color...' That's why I'm crazy! The black and white has wonderful tones and contrasts; and it actually feels colder; like, uhh, winter! Super shot, Lou Ann; in my opinion this is the best of the playground series. By the way, how's the job-huntin' goin'? LOL! Cheers! Chris

I'll go for the color. The orange slides curving through and hiding behind this forest of green poles is what makes the picture for me.

...and just to make all this more fun and controversial ...I go for the B&W :=). But seriously, I seem to appreciate the structures, forms and the regular and irregular patterns within this image much more in the non-colour version.

I like the color it make me think of someone who likes John Deere products. This is the "johnny deere" playground. I'm I right. Regards.

Nice composition, well coloured. I think I would have like to see a kid in the foreground toboggan. Or perhaps in the other, playing alone in the playground.

Okay Chris ... I'll be the first to call you crazy. ;-) For all the years I lived in the Buffalo area, I always felt as though there were no colors in the winter ... only gray. Even houses that were red the rest of the year looked gray in the winter. Maybe it was just my perception of things. So, I really like the color version over the b&w version. I like the point of view you selected. It would be really nice to see some little rug rat rounding the corner on the section of the slide at right. Maybe you can hire one for a buck or two. This is a playground waiting for the joys of Spring.
