I was inspired by Linda McLellan (I am often inspired by Linda McLellan!) to get out and shoot at a local playground. There were fewer children around this playground than there were at Linda's ... but the weather conditions were a bit different, too. :-)

My focus wasn't so philosophical as Linda's. I was looking to shoot shadows and the contours in the snow ... but ended up finding great shadows on the snow, and not many contours. For some reason the colored metal mesh with ice really fascinated me.

Funny story to go along with this one. A couple of years ago when I realized that my nephew (who was then about 3 years old) wanted to start taking pictures, his parents kind of "poo poo"ed the idea. But I bought him a disposable camera and we went to the National Zoo in DC. He was doing the normal stuff, taking shots of the animals. Then we stopped for lunch, and he whips out his camera and points it at the picnic bench. His parents were like "What in the world are you taking a picture of??" His answer: "the cool green metal that has criss-crosses in it!" His parents reaction: "Puh-leeee-ayz!!" (Skeptics!) Aunt Lou Ann's reaction: "YAY!! He sees color and texture!!"
