Hi David,

I like this shot. Old house, old trees, great B&W tones. Nice! 6/6 anonymously. Thanks for looking at my pics too. When I have more than a few minuets I'll take a deeper look into your portfolio. I browsed it today but it quite obviously deserves more...

Great find. While I think the tones are nice, I think this is a photo that would look great with really high contrast levels...I think it would underscore the bleak, stark nature of the broken down house and the leafless trees. What do you think?

Thanks for your thoughts. I don't know. While I was working on it, I upped the contrast to the point at which the white siding (second story) lost it's lines, and that seemed to me to be taking it too far, because I felt the siding should be seen as siding. Maybe I'll play a bit more.

i love this. the first story looks like a face. the door being a nose and the two windows eyes. it seems to have a look of challenging resignation, like it is saying "i know i am falling down, you wanna make something of it?"

Thanks. What captivates me is that everything appears to be collapsing to the center. The barn, and even the trees are leaning from the left, and the house seems to be heading from the right into the center. It's like they decided to put their heads together and contemplate their collective fate. While the pump stands mute.

Not to be contrary but it's contrasty enough! A tale telling' title too....say that fast three times. This is a wonderful image me friend, I too like how it's all slowly bending in. Home sweet home.

You are on my mind a lot these days. I want to go see you so badly and be somewhere in the middle of Montana. Gas prices are going to be five bucks a gallon this summer. What to do? We shall see.

a nice photo. The dark(er) trees seem to be supporting the building in falling apart. You know, if there was a dog in the pic, it would be difficult to tell it from a really old goat. It's interesting the darker sky suggests clouds, yet the building is illuminated by sunlight. I heard that when you soak old wood in V8, it comes back to life, and can even sprout new roots... Cheers, Micheal

In the United States they have V8 addiction treatment centers. Of course, since we do not have socialized medicine, nobody can afford to go to them. Just something to put your fertile imagination to work on. Those trees are coming in. The whole thing is about to implode upon itself. And when it happens, the water pump will be blown off of its foundation by a geyser of oil. And it will be a humongous source of energy from which we will be able to feed the entire country with dollar a gallon gasoline. And you poor Mountie guys are going to be left looking over the border like kids looking out a window on a rainy day and wishing they could come out to play. Really

I find the B&W tones plenty contrasty and really just right as they are. And I, too, like how everything is bending inward, though I suspect you were shooting at 18mm and it's barrel distortion we're seeing. I just posted one (Cake House - Front) I think is doing the same thing. I like it. What an appealing place, and picture, this is.
