I was inspired by Linda McLellan (I am often inspired by Linda McLellan!) to get out and shoot at a local playground. There were fewer children around this playground than there were at Linda's ... but the weather conditions were a bit different, too. :-)

My focus wasn't so philosophical as Linda's. I was looking to shoot shadows and the contours in the snow ... but ended up finding great shadows on the snow, and not many contours.

Thoughts?

Lou Ann, nothing like a trip to the snow covered playground for some abstract photography! This is excellent! Great composition and really nice catch with the light! Regards, Doug

i LOVE these colors, but would also like to see this one in black and white. it would be a completely different image, not nearly so playful, but worth exploring i think.

Okay, this one really stumped me. Let me know which you like better, the color version or which of the B&W's? The first B&W I did with a simple "desaturation". Just to see what it would look like. The second B&W I did using the B&W adjustment layer, and with the yellow being so strong (and having (as it turns out) so much red in it!) that I couldn't figure out how to get a good tonal range without getting the yellow real dark real fast. Thoughts?

Interesting ... I made the snow lighter and the slide darker ... you did the opposite and I like it better. I'm not at home right now, but I might try again later this afternoon. Thanks, Linda! :-)

Here's my try at it ... still working on what is aesthetically pleasing in B&W images. Thanks for the suggestion, Linda!! :-)

This is another one from the playground that caught my eye, but in larger size it does not interest me enough. There is something about it that I like, but there is also something about it that I don't. I'll just leave it at that.
