The process is complex and somewhat accidental. I use many of the standard tools in Paint Shop X2 plus Redfield's Fractalius plug-in.

I just keep experimenting until I get something I like...

As I recall, this image involved at least 30 steps. Most take far less steps since I often have SOME idea where I want to go with the source image(s).

The final step in this image involved the application of the ENAMEL filter in PSP.

Not much help I know, but the best I can do...
