je.barreto1 0 Posted August 7, 2010 "A portrait of a soul"? It is not easy to do such thing. Yet, there are some people - I call it the meaningful people - who bring the soul in the eyes. In these cases it is much easier to make the portrait of their souls. This woman is one of those cases.Good portrait. And I like the deep b/w tonalities.Regards. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 7, 2010 Mark,Her skin tone is very good. I like the Rembrandt lighting. With the low fill intensity, her rather solemn expression and darkness surrounding her face, I find this a portrait of a girl with much sadness. It may be "A portrait of a soul," but for me it appears to be a somewhat lost soul.My feeling is enhanced by positioning her on the far left side, so that she is facing out the picture rather into it -- more leaving than entering. Her very nice catch lights should add sparkle and life to her eyes, but I don't see that. Her eyes are so dark that perhaps her catch lights signify the last vestige of life or hope. Her eyes are not in critical focus. Maybe you wanted to have them somewhat out of focus?Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
