bgb 0 Posted February 29, 2008 Fine idea and very original shot, but, in my opinion, too high contrast somewhat destroys an atmosphere of the birch forest. Link to comment
dougbrill 0 Posted February 29, 2008 I like the idea but I too think the contrast is too high. It makes the image too busy to look at. You have others of birch in your portfolio that are softer. I would like to see this one with the symmetry but with softer contrast. Link to comment
aslavihervuori 0 Posted February 29, 2008 Yes, contrast is high. Perhaps even for my taste. But that makes it look more like graphic art. I would like to see "alternative contrast choices", if you have made them. What I mean is, could we understand craphic nature of this scene even with less contrast? Whatever, fine scene: mixture and contrast of natural and manmade. Take care, a s l a Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted March 2, 2008 High contrast makes all the difference from the ordinary here.I haven't ever tried myself through PS,but why not?It makes the image more dramatic and leaving out a good deal of greyscale,it gives it more impact.Best regards, and see you again on PN! Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 3, 2008 I'm of the opinion that the use of high contrast has produced a strong work of art and removed it from the realm of "Nature Photography", emphasizing instead a particular aspect of the forest: its ordered linear composition - and very well, indeed.
